Especially in the military sector, EMC is essential to ensure the functionality, safety and operational capability of electronic systems under all circumstances and even under extreme conditions. Military operations require high reliability of the electronic systems used, such as communication equipment, radar systems, weapon systems, navigation devices and surveillance systems. Electromagnetic interference could affect these systems, which can be life-threatening during operations. In the military environment, many different electronic devices are often operated simultaneously in a confined space, e.g. in vehicles, aircraft or ships. EMC ensures that these devices do not interfere with each other, which guarantees the functionality of all systems. Interference transmitters or electromagnetic pulses can severely disrupt or sabotage communication, which is why the interference immunity of military equipment and systems is essential under all conditions. The standards in the military sector are therefore often even stricter than in the civilian sector.
